About the Program
The December festival concert will be dedicated to celebrating the joy of anticipation for Christmas. For the first time in Poznań, rarely performed works by Georg Philipp Telemann will be presented. The Arte dei Suonatori Orchestratogether with the Swiss vocal ensemble Voces Suaves, conducted by Marcin Świątkiewicz, will perform four previously unknown and unpublished cantatas from the composer's Hamburg and Frankfurt periods.
These works have been carefully compiled to create a coherent Christmas Oratorio, covering the liturgical period from the Nativity up to the Epiphany. The cantatas are maintained in Telemann's rich style. The string orchestra will be chromatically complemented by oboes, flutes, and a bassoon, allowing for the full expression of the variety and richness of the sound.
Each piece, and consequently the entire oratorio, is characterized by a truly operatic nature, encompassing dramatic recitatives, dialogues, virtuoso arias, and choruses. The latter are not confined to their traditional, contemplative role, but create a lively event. The museum hall will be transformed into a sublime stage, deepening the spiritual experience and transporting listeners to the very heart of the Baroque celebration.
